Running RetailDeck for the first time
OK, the hard stuff (installation) is over. Time to kick back, relax, and get started using RetailDeck. From here on out, things should be identical regardless of how your computer is setup. The only variable left is the customizations that we have made to RetailDeck for different buying groups.
The first time you run RetailDeck, it does things a bit differently from normal. This tutorial walks you thorough the entering of your account information and your first deck download.
What is a deck download?
Good question. At one time, long long ago (circa 2003), warehouses used to give dealers a printout of the price and availability of all the goods available in their warehouse. In most warehouses, these printouts were called, oddly enough, decks. In RetailDeck, downloading the deck means to get an update of price and availability information from your buying group.
Running RetailDeck for the first time
Start by closing any other programs that you may have open. Double click on the RetailDeck icon on your desktop.

After a brief pause, a window will appear asking you to enter your username and password. The username and password that you should use for RetailDeck is group specific. For instructions on how to get yours, click here.

Enter your username and password in the appropriate boxes. The password is case sensitive, so BOB is not the same password as bob.

After you have typed your username and password in, click the "Download the current inventory from ..." link. If you have entered your password incorrectly, don't worry, RetailDeck will just tell you that your username is password is incorrect and you will have to enter it again. You will only have to enter your username and password once, RetailDeck will automatically remember them.

Assuming that you username and password are valid, RetailDeck will begin downloading data. Note that the first deck download will take almost ten times as long as your daily (or hourly) update will. A lot of extra, one time, information must be downloaded.

Once the download is complete, the search view will open. Congratulations, you have downloaded your first deck and are now ready to start using RetailDeck
